After 21 years as a Yacht Skipper, Simon Hughes returned home to his native Guernsey and formed Sun Yachts Limited in 2014, initially as a yacht sales and brokerage company. The company began to sell new Jeanneau yachts and motorboats, and provided brokerage and yacht services.
Shortly afterwards the company secured the dealership for BRIG inflatables, one of the largest European RIB builders. More recently they have added The Swedish IRON boat range of sports boats and the luxury sports cruisers built by Wellcraft to their portfolio.
Simon’s in-depth knowledge of sailing makes him a “go-to” person for advice on the best sailing boat to buy and is always available to talk boats with anyone, passing on his rich knowledge of sailing in local waters or across the world.

In 2018, Andy Lewis Joined the company in Jersey. Andy has over 30 years experience in Marketing Advertising and PR as the former owner and Group Managing Director of Image Group, one of the Channel Islands largest Advertising Agencies. Andy had been a customer of Simon having purchased three BRIG ribs in recent years.
So when Simon casually mentioned at the Jersey boat show in 2017 “as you are best customer in Jersey would you like to help us sell more boats in Jersey” Andy grabbed the opportunity to fully establish Sun Yachts Jersey. With Simon’s marine knowledge Andy’s Marketing skills and understanding of the local market Sun Yachts flourished in Jersey too, with significant rib sales and now a fleet of managed boats under the company’s Boat Share Scheme.

Sun Yachts provides, guardienage, maintenance and yacht deliveries. Simon’s experience of a wide variety of yachts has made Sun Yachts a popular choice for delivering boats both locally and internationally.
In collaboration with Sea Ventures in Southampton Sun Yachts are now sub agents for Wellcraft and Jeanneau inboard power boats, this provides the company with an exciting opportunity to place some large luxury powerboats and cruisers into the Channel Island market place.

Our Boat Share Scheme has been hugely successful in the Channel Islands introducing people to boating that would perhaps otherwise not be able to afford to do so. Conversely we have had many existing boat owners who have downsized from larger boats and want a hassle free, managed experience.
